Welcome to December Friends! With the start of the new month, Humagalas will kick off some great new specials for yet another great cause! This month 25% of proceeds from our December specials will go to help The Harford Center. All our foodies out there know we like to put some time and care into creating these limited time specials so that they are extra tasty from our heart to yours – like a hug – from us to you. Lucky for us (and all our Humagalas) we have a rockin chef who knows just how to make it all happen. As always should anyone want to donate additional money to help Harford Center you can certainly do so. Just ask your server for details and 100% of your donation goes directly to Harford Center.
Next we created something a bit spicy and coupled it with everyone’s favorite BACON! You are gonna love our Bacon Jalapeno Pizza, it smothered with the perfect balance of jalapenos, bacon, cream cheese sauce and cheddar cheese on our signature crust.
Lastly, for all the shake lovers out there, we took an inspiration from the season and created a Chocolate Candy Cane Shake. We start with our homemade ice cream and add peppermint and chocolate, and top it with a generous amount of whipped cream, chocolate chips and candy cane bits.
Now let’s introduce you to Harford Center.
Harford Center, Inc. is a not-for-profit day habilitation program for adults with disabilities. They are local to Harford county, with two locations, one in Havre De Grace and one in Street, Maryland and started on their mission in 1961.
The Harford Center sets apart from other service providers in the provision of individualized programming for the individual with severe and profound cognitive limitations and multiple disabilities. Their philosophy is that each individual has the right to be treated with dignity and respect.
Additionally, each individual is provided with programs that facilitate his/her personal growth and development. The goal of the program is to optimize the development of skills that will lead to more independent functioning and job skills that can be used in our community.
The future of the Harford Center is very bright with goals of developing a supported employment program for individuals that are interested in working in the community. They are doing great things, we hope to help them keep on doing great work!
